As a small business owner, it is important for you to create a 90 day content plan when it comes to your marketing efforts. I strongly believe that creating a content plan in advance and delegating to a scheduling software as much as possible. Your content plan should be aimed at accomplishing your small business goals for the quarter.
Our current digital marketing cycle is very personality driven. Your customers want to see your face. They want to hear from you. This may be overwhelming to you! You don’t necessarily want to be the face of your business, but as you are starting out, you should speak on behalf of your small business.
Your Content Should Support Your Business Goals
The content that you will be creating for the first 90 days and beyond should completely support your business. Your content plan should be aimed at trying to accomplish whatever your goals are for the quarter. The other thing your content needs to do is be in line with your customer’s buying journey.
What are the types of content you can create for your 90 day content plan?
Go Live
You can create live videos and make sure they are searchable on various platforms. I like to go live on Facebook and LinkedIn, for example. By creating a live video you can pre-edit the video by directing yourself in advance. You can organize points that you want to talk about. Plan out various topics you would like to discuss and spread those videos out over the 90 days. Remember to create topics that are evergreen, that your audience can listen to in the future. Your audience can reference whatever topic may apply to them and their business at any time. Think of these videos as a verbal blog post!
Blog Posts
Writing a blog, as a part of your content plan, is a way to create longer content that will be searchable to your audience and lead them to your business online. Now, if you know you are not a writer or don't like to write, you can hire a copywriter to do this for you. Take the pressure off yourself!
For instance, you can direct the copywriter to create six blogs, a thousand words each, and cover particular topics about your business. You can research which topics people are searching for on Google. Making your content “google-able” will make your business more likely to be found by your audience. Post the blogs on your website so you can direct your social media to your blogs.
Recorded Video
Creating a pre-recorded video may be a little easier for you because it means you can edit out all the “ums” and plan out exactly what you want to say in a script. You can even hire someone to make these edits and deliver you a beautifully edited video to post to your social media accounts. You can then create social media posts to direct your audience to your video or blog posts that live on your website.
Whichever type of content you choose to create for your 90 day content plan - live video, blog posts, pre-recorded videos - be sure that this content will lead your audience on some sort of buying journey.
When it comes to informing your audience about what you do and what your small business is all about - make sure your customers know how to engage with you and what your small business can do for them. Incorporating one or all of these types of content into your 90 day content plan will help your marketing efforts and allow more time for you to run a successful business.
